Road Trippin'
This blog is about a weekend. Ok!! Its about one of my BEST weekends!
Saturday morning ( or afternoon)... six software engineers sitting around wondering what to do. Lets go to Legends of Rock!
NO!!.. i want to go dancing... lets go to someplace we can dance!
Argh! Who wants to dance. and besides u suck at dancing.. lets go someplace we can chill.
I can do that sitting at home.. thank u very much!
And so on and so forth.
Suddenly.. hey people, how about we go on a road trip! 6 of us... 3 bikes... do the math! That caught everyones attention! It was a brilliant idea! And although i would love to take credit for it.. it wasnt mine :(
Brainstorming sessions followed... where to go.. how to go.. blah blah blah...
And finally-
To: Hogenakkal (next to Salem)
From: Bangalore
Via: Hosur, Devankottai,Anchetti,Gilligundu and some other places whose names i tend to forget. :P
We left at round 2.. filled ourselves and the bikes and started out. Everyone was excited. Before i go into details about the trip... a brief intro of the bikes:
1)Thunderbird.. need i say anymore.
2)Yamaha RX135.. again an awesome bike! and very fast!
3)Splendor... boo hoo!!... and guess who was stuck behind this one.. with aching ass and all.. thats right.. laugh all u want!! sigh!
Now, moving on... traffic, traffic and some more all the way to hosur.. we were moving at snails pace in the blistering heat. Curses were flying all around.Out of Hosur.. and the fun began.. Awesome roads... little/no traffic... small shops every 10kms or so (where we stopped to
have elaneer(coconut water) and pepsi and a smoke).. amazing scenery.. and thankfully.. no heat!!.. The trip which would normally take 2-3 hours to make.. took us 6 hours.. not complaining though... six hours of amazing fun!!
Reached Destination.
Time: 8.30 p.m.Spoke to some locals about places to visit and stuff. A couple of boatmen suggested we stay at this island which is covered with sand and is usually isolated. Everyones getting excited.. got the details and after some dinner headed out to the island on this round boat.. the boat was extremely cute although it offered no protection from the water.. we were dripping wet by the time we reached "The Island".
At the Island, the aforementioned boatmen made us a bonfire, gave us some mats and stuff to sleep on and left.It was us... alone.. nothing to remind us of the outside.. no noise cept for the sound of the waves... it was bliss! We sat up talking and singing and drinking till about 4, when one by one we crashed. All of us were woken up at 6 by the boatmen.. to go to the waterfalls before it becomes too hot... still sleepy and drowsy.. we nevertheless agreed to go along with them..
Reached Waterfalls.
The water was extremely dirty. I refused to step inside. I love water and stuff man.. but when there is all sorts of weird stuff floating about in it.. am sorry.. NO!! The others werent as fussy.. and i was forced into going in along with them. It was fun i must admit. So picture this.. all of us having fun in the falls..after a while we turn around.. and all around us.. seminaked men.. with
oil gistening on their bodies...(Piece of Info: Hogenakkal is famous for its "amazing" massages. These massages are given atop rocks and involve seminaked fatsos and oil... YUCK!)I freaked! Lets get the hell out of here! And we did. Not immediately... but eventually! I was squirming with disgust the entire time.
Reached Hotel.
Had a bath... washed hair... scrubbed scrubbed and scrubbed some more till my skin peeled off!! aah.. was this close to being in heaven!Lunched and left... at 1.. in the blistering heat again!
Same route back.. made it in 5 hours this time.. ;) and i sat on the Thunderbird! Life Rocks!
Almost home... something happens to the Yamaha.. spent two hours in the middle of te road trying to figure out what!... turns out.. ran out of fuel!! &*%&!!
Home... crashing... but not yet... "Hey guys! Lets go out somewhere no? How about Pecos?"
Wat the &%^#?!?! ... Crashed!
